Think Magnesium

Think Magnesium
What is Magnesium? Elemental magnesium is a fairly strong, silvery-white, light-weight metal (two thirds the density of aluminium) Magnesium is a highly flammable metal, but while it is easy to ignite when powdered or shaved into thin strips, it is difficult to ignite in mass, Once ignited, it is difficult to extinguish, being able to burn in nitrogen  (forming magnesium nitride), carbon dioxide (forming magnesium oxide and carbon) and water (forming magnesium oxide and hydrogen)

Where do we get Magnesium from? Good sources of magnesium include nuts and seeds, soybeans, tofu, chocolate, dark-green vegetables, legumes, yogurt, wheat germ and dairy products. The adult daily requirement of magnesium is about 0.35 g/day. Much of this can come from green leafy plant materials (magnesium is found in chlorophyll).

Why do we need Magnesium? Magnesium is required for the proper working of enzymes. It is used in more than 300 biochemical reactions in the human body. It helps maintain normal muscle and nerve function (including keeping the heart rhythm steady). Without sufficient Magnesium, muscles (including heart) and nerves deteriorate.

Heart Function: Magnesium plays a vital role in maintaining a rhythmic and healthy heartbeat. Heart muscle cells contain calcium ions in the internal chambers of the cell, known as the sarcoplasmic reticulum, and magnesium ions in the fluid portion of the cell. When the nerve impulse created by the sinus node -- the specialized group of cells that creates the electrical impulses in the heart -- stimulates the heart muscle cells, the sarcoplasmic reticulum releases calcium ions. This action causes the cell to contract. When the calcium ions enter the fluid portion of the cell, the electrical charge of the magnesium ions propels the calcium back into the chamber, which allows the heart muscle cells to relax. A magnesium deficiency causes abnormal heart rhythms, but taking magnesium chloride supplements promotes heart health.
Blood Pressure: As an electrolyte -- meaning a molecule that transmits the tiny electrical impulses sent by nerves -- magnesium works with sodium and potassium to regulate blood pressure. The Linus Pauling Institute reports that although there is a relationship between magnesium and your blood pressure, the magnitude of the effects is difficult to determine. Foods high in magnesium also contain potassium, making it difficult to quantify the effects. One study published in the "Annals of Epidemiology" concludes that a low magnesium level can play a modest role in developing hypertension. Taking magnesium chloride supplements not only helps keep your heart healthy but may also treat or prevent hypertension. Because magnesium chloride supplements may interfere with other medications or cause unwanted side effects, consult your doctor before you begin taking them. Magnesium also supports a healthy immune system, and keeps bones and teeth strong. It helps to regulate blood sugar levels, promotes normal blood pressure, and is known to be involved in energy metabolism and protein synthesis.
Magnesium in Diabetes: When you consume food, your body must break down the food molecules into usable energy known as glucose. Magnesium plays a role in the breakdown of carbohydrates into glucose. Glucose travels through the blood to provide energy to the cells. The cells need a hormone known as insulin to take in and use the glucose. Magnesium may influence the release and activity of the insulin. A study published in "Diabetes Care" found that magnesium shares an inverse relationship with diabetes risk. This means that low magnesium levels increase your risk for diabetes, while a high magnesium level lowers your risk. Taking magnesium chloride supplements may help lower your risk for diabetes.
It is an antidote to stress, the most powerful relaxation mineral available, and it can help improve your sleep. I find it very funny that more doctors aren’t clued in to the benefits of magnesium, because it is used it all the time in conventional medicine. But we never stop to think about why or how important it is to our general health or why it helps our bodies function better.
In the emergency room:  According to Dr. Mark Hyman.MD, It is a critical “medication” on the crash cart. If someone was dying of a life-threatening arrhythmia (or irregular heart beat), we used intravenous magnesium. If someone was constipated or needed to prepare for colonoscopy, they are given milk of magnesia or a green bottle of liquid magnesium citrate, which empties their bowels. If pregnant women came in with pre-term labour, or high blood pressure of pregnancy (pre-eclampsia) or seizures, they are given continuous high doses of intravenous magnesium.
Role of Magnesium in OsteoporosisThe National Institutes of Health Office of Dietary Supplements reports that approximately 50 percent of all the magnesium in your body resides in your bones. Similar to calcium, your body deposits magnesium molecules in the bone to add strength to the bone structure. In addition, magnesium affects how your body absorbs and utilizes calcium, a low level of magnesium can cause a reduction in the amount of calcium in the blood. Since calcium also plays a vital role in heart function, an inadequate amount of calcium in the blood signals your bones to release calcium. This leads to thin and weak bones -- a condition known as osteoporosis. Increasing your magnesium intake,  by taking magnesium chloride supplements, it may help increase your bone density, making bones healthy and strong.
What happens if we are deficient in Magnesium?: The reason we are so deficient is simple: Many of us eat a diet that contains practically no magnesium — a highly-processed, refined diet that is based mostly on white flour, meat, and dairy (all of which have no magnesium). Much of modern life conspires to help us lose what little magnesium we do get in our diet. Magnesium levels are decreased by excess alcohol, salt, coffee, phosphoric acid in colas, profuse sweating, prolonged or intense stress, chronic diarrhea, excessive menstruation, diuretics (water pills), antibiotics as well as other drugs, and some intestinal parasites. In fact, in one study in Kosovo, people under chronic war stress lost large amounts of magnesium in their urine.
You might be magnesium deficient if you have any of the following symptoms: Muscle cramps or twitches, Insomnia. Irritability, Sensitivity to loud noises, Anxiety, Autism, ADD, Palpitations, Angina, Constipation, Anal spasms, Headaches, Migraines, Fibromyalgia, Chronic fatigue, Asthma, Kidney stones, Diabetes, Obesity, Osteoporosis, High blood pressure, PMS, Menstrual cramps, Irritable bladder, Irritable bowel syndrome, Reflux, Trouble swallowing, Magnesium deficiency has even been linked to inflammation in the body and higher CRP levels.
A DEFICIENCY IN THIS CRITICA: By suffering from this type of deficiency it makes you twice as likely to die . According to a study published in The Journal of Intensive Care Medicine. It also accounts for a long list of symptoms and diseases — which are easily helped and often cured by adding this nutrient. In fact, in my practice, this nutrient is one of my secret weapons against illness. Yet up to half of Americans are deficient in this nutrient and don’t know it. Our Sportsmen and Children are loading themselves with very high amounts of sugar by having Soda's and High Energy Drinks. For every one grain of sugar you consume, your body needs 56 grains of Magnesium to process it. There is NO Magnesium in these drinks, so when the body uses up the store of magnesium the person suffers, cramp, muscle spasms or dysrhythemia of the heart. The heart needs magnesium to beat, and no magnesium in the blood can lead to heart failure and death, as we have already seen with our famous sportsmen. You dont have to be famfous to suffer ill effects of lack of magnesium. You don’t have to be in the hospital to benefit from getting more magnesium. You can start taking regular magnesium supplementation today and see results.
The Relaxation Mineral Think of magnesium as the relaxation mineral. Anything that is tight, irritable, crampy, and stiff — whether it is a body part or an even a mood — is a sign of magnesium deficiency.
When was the last time you had a good dose of seaweed, nuts, greens, and beans? If you are like most Americans, your nut consumption mostly comes from peanut butter. That is why the list of conditions that are found related to magnesium deficiency is so long. In fact, there are over 3,500 medical references on magnesium deficiency. Even so, this mineral is mostly ignored because it is not a drug, even though it is MORE powerful than drugs in many cases. That’s why we use it in the hospital for life-threatening and emergency situations like seizures and heart failure.
In our World, magnesium deficiency is a huge problem. By conservative standards of measurement (blood, or serum, magnesium levels), 65 percent of people admitted to the intensive care unit — and about 15 percent of the general population — have magnesium deficiency. But this seriously underestimates the problem, because a serum magnesium level is the LEAST sensitive way to detect a drop in your total body magnesium level. So rates of magnesium deficiency could be even higher!  This is all further complicated by the fact that magnesium is often poorly absorbed and easily lost from our bodies. To properly absorb magnesium we need a lot of it in our diet, plus enough vitamin B6, vitamin D, and selenium to get the job done. A recent scientific review of magnesium concluded, “It is highly regrettable that the deficiency of such an inexpensive, low-toxicity nutrient results in diseases that cause incalculable suffering and expense throughout the world.”
It is difficult to measure and hard to study, but magnesium deficiency accounts for untold suffering — and is simple to correct. So if you suffer from any of the symptoms I mentioned or have any of the diseases I noted, don’t worry — it is an easy fix!! Here’s how. Stop Draining Your Body of Magnesium
The most serious indications of lack of magnesium include…, High blood pressure, Clogged arteries, Muscular soreness and/or spasms
Inability to cope with stress, Memory loss, Depression, Lack of energy, Chronic and acute migraines, Dangerous cholesterol levels, Providing the body with an abundance of absorbable magnesium will…Fortify bones and joints, Strengthen blood vessel walls, Enhance overall rate of healing, Relax muscle spasms and twitching, Lessen migraine pain and frequency, Soothe pain form exercise or arthritis, Nourish the nervous system, Generate increased energy production, Balance and maintain healthy heart function, Regulate blood pressure, and Increase serotonin production.

Healing Properties of Cinnamon

Healing Properties of Cinnamon
Cinnamon is a spice we have know for over 5000 years for its medicinal properties and taste. Cinnamon is native to Sri Lanka is taken from the many species of the laurel tree. rue cinnamon comes from the C. zeylanicum tree, but most cinnamon produced today is from the C. Cassia tree. The spice is taken from the tender shoots of the tree and when dried it curls up into a tube. Now this plant is widely grow all over the tropics.
The Romans burned it during their funerals; the Egyptians drank it as well as used it in the embalming process and before refrigeration. It was used in meats to mask the smell of decay as well as to retard the growth of bacteria.

Culinary uses:  Cinnamon is generally used in preparation of many popular dishes. In Asian and Chinese cooking cinnamon along with other spicy is used to marinate chicken, fish and meats.

In Indian cooking cinnamon is used to flavour their vegetarian and chicken curries and rice dishes (biriyani) they contain small amounts of grounded powder. In the Middle East, it is used in meat and rice dishes.
Cinnamon is also used in the preparation of soups, barbecue sauces, pickling and as one of the ingredients in variety of curry powders.
The bark is widely used as a spice. It is principally employed in cookery as a condiment and flavouring base. It's used in the preparation of chocolate and in some kinds of desserts, such as cinnamon-apple pie and cinnamon buns as well as pastries, bagels, sweet rolls, spicy candies, tea, hot cocoa, and liqueurs.  It is recommended  to keep the fragrance and flavour, cinnamon should be ground just before preparing dishes and added at the last moment in the cooking recipes, because prolonged cooking results in evaporation of essential oils.

Healing Properties:
Cinnamon is know to be anti fungal, anti bacterial, anti microbial and clotting properties. Used after childbirth to reduce haemorrhage. It has been shown to suppress e.coli, staphylococcus and candida albican. The essential oil, eugenol, has been in therapeutic use in dentistry as a local anaesthetic and antiseptic for teeth and gum.
Eugenol also has been found to reduce blood sugar levels in diabetics, but further detailed studies required to establish its benefits.
The extraction from the sticks (de-concoction) is sometimes used in treating flatulence and indigestion in traditional medicine.
It is these phenols that give cinnamon its powerful antiseptic capabilities. According to The Healing Herbs, cinnamon can kill bacteria as well as fungi and viruses. I have used cinnamon for just this purpose. On scratches and small burns, I have sprinkled cinnamon over the injury to eliminate the possibility of infection.

The spice is used in traditional medicines to stave off common cold and oxidant stress conditions.
Recently, it has been studied for it’s ability to boost brain power as well as reduce blood clotting and its healing effects on the heart and colon. New research shows it might also be helpful for people with type 2 diabetes.
Some ailments cinnamon is said to relive include digestive upset, congestion, menstrual problems, stiff joints and muscles. It has been used as a pain reliever as well. In addition, it has anti-inflammatory properties that may help reduce arthritis pain and is said to help cure urinary tract infections. Some studies indicate it may fight tooth decay and gum disease. It also has powerful anti-microbial properties that can kill bacteria (one of the reasons it was used hundreds of years ago to help preserve meat).

Arthritis: In a recent research conducted at the Copenhagen University, it was found that when the doctors treated their patients with a mixture of one tablespoon Honey and half teaspoon cinnamon powder before breakfast, they found that within a week out of the 200 people so treated practically 73 patients were totally relieved of pain and within a month, mostly all the patients who could not walk or move around because of arthritis started walking without pain.
Brain Tonic: Cinnamon is know to boot the activity of the brain and acts as a good brain tonic. It helps in removing nervous tension and memory loss. Research at the Wheeling Jesuit University in the US has proved that the aroma of cinnamon has the ability to boost brain activity. The team of researchers led by Dr. P. Zoladz found that people who were  cinnamon improved their scored on cognitive activities such as attention processes, virtual recognition memory, working memory, and visual-motor response speed.
Blood Purification: Cinnamon helps in removing blood impurities. Cinnamon aids in the circulation of blood due to the presence of a blood thinning compound in it. This blood circulation helps significantly in removing pain. Good blood circulation also ensures oxygen supply to the cells of the body leading to higher metabolic activity. You significantly reduce the chance of getting a heart attack by regularly consuming cinnamon.
CHOLESTEROL:It was found that when patients took Two tablespoons of honey, three teaspoons of Cinnamon Powder  mixed in 16 ounces of green tea, was found to reduce the level of cholesterol in the blood by 10% within 2 hours.  Arthritic patients, taking the mix 3 times a day for their pains, also found that their chronic cholesterol was lowered.
COLDS:Those suffering chronic colds should take one tablespoon warm honey mix with 1/4 spoon cinnamon powder taken daily for 3 days will cure most cough, colds and  sinus problems.
Digestive Problems:Cinnamon is good to prevent nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea because It stimulates digestion. A tablespoon of cinnamon powder in warm water, can be used for colds and taken half an hour after meals, should relieves flatulence and indigestion.
INFERTILITY: A couple in Maryland, USA,who  had no children for 14 years and had lost hope of having a child of their own, was told about  cinnamon and honey. Husband and wife started taking honey and cinnamon daily, the wife conceived after a few months and had twins at full term.
In Ayurvedic Medicine the use of honey and cinnamon has been known for thousands of years, It was used to strengthen the semen. If impotent men regularly take two tablespoon of honey before going to sleep, to raise their libido. Women who cannot conceive may take a pinch of cinnamon powder in half teaspoon of honey and apply it on their gums frequently throughout the day, so that it slowly mixes with the saliva to increase the absorption. This is to strengthen their uterus and increase their chances of falling pregnant.

Medicinal properties of Cumin (Cuminum Cyminum)

Medicinal properties of Cumin (Cuminum Cyminum)
Other names: Nigella sativa seed is variously called fennel flower, nutmeg flower, Roman coriander, black seed or black caraway. Other names used, sometimes misleadingly, are onion seed and black sesame, both of which are similar-looking, but unrelated. The seeds are frequently referred to as black cumin (as in Assamese: kaljeera or kolajeera or Bengali kalo Jeera), In south Indian language Kannada it is called "Krishna Jeerige", but this is also used for a different spice, Bunium persicum (Carum bulbocastanum). Oil of Black Cumin is also known as Kolanji. Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) claimed its therapeutic potential to cure most diseases.
Cumin Seeds
Apart from the Jeera used in Indian kitchen, which is known as “safed” (white) Jeera, there is another variety called black Jeera. It grows on high altitudes and is costlier than the former. Though considered a separate herb, black Jeera has greater medicinal properties than the common white Jeera.
Chemical Composition - seeds contain 1.5% volatile oil, while 37.5% Non volatile oil. In addition to this Albumen, Sugar, Organic acids, Glucoside Melanthin Metarbin and bitter substances are also found. Jeera contains many important nutrients like protein, carbohydrates and traces of minerals such as calcium, phosphorus and iron in different proportions.
Medicinal Uses:  Protects Healthy Cells and Stimulates Production of Natural Interferon. The first major study of Nigella Sativa (Black Cumin seed) in cancer prevention and treatment was performed by scientists at Cancer Immuno-Biology Laboratory of Hilton Head IslandSouth Carolina. They concluded that a healthy immune system will detect and destroy cancer cells before the cancer endangers the patient. The immune system does this by supporting increased production of immune cells, bone marrow cells, and B-cells that produce antibodies. Black cumin stimulates neutrophil activity. These are the short-lived immune cells that are normally found in bone marrow but mobilized into action when there is a bacterial infection. Extracts of black cumin have also been shown to modulate production of interleukins, a quality it shares with some other highly revered herbs: ginseng, astralagus, mistletoe, garlic, and cat's claw.
Hazrat Aisha(R.A.) told us that Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) stated that  this black seed is the cure for all ailments except 'Sam' , When asked, what is 'Sam'? He replied “Death”.
According to Indian Herbal Medicine, Cumin balances Vata, a nervous phenomenon that controls all the movements of body and Kapha, which controls the body structure including cells, tissues and the organs.
The seeds have astringent, cooling, stomachic, antispasmodic, sedative, stimulant, carminative, diuretic, digestive and antiseptic properties. According to ayurvedic materia medica, Jeera is pungent in taste and is light, dry, sharp and hot in effect.  Jeera (Cumin) acts as an anti-obesity, anti-inflammatory, blood purifier, diuretic, glactogauge (that enhances milk engendering during lactation) and uterine stimulant medicine.
Black Cumin Seeds
Black cumin, especially when combined with garlic, is regarded as a harmonizer of the imbalance which allows immune cells to destroy healthy cells. The technical language to describe this property is "immunomodulatory action." The difference between black cumin and interferon is that there are no known side effects with black cumin when administered in normal dosages. The saying goes tha]t the beauty of black cumin is their capacity to restore harmony.
Indigenous Formulations: Jeera has a marked digestive and carming effects, expels the wind, anti-colic and helps absorption in the intestines. Cumin (Jeera) is also given in conditions where a patient complains of the anorexia, nausea, indigestion, abdominal distension, colic, piles and intestinal worms. Jeera helps treat urinary stasis and prevents stone formation in the kidneys. Jeera is also a very good medicine for mucous diarrhoea and non-specific colitis and is used in combination with other medicines to cure the irritable bowel syndrome. Tea made up of Cumin seeds, and dry Coriander helps vomiting and loss of appetite occurring during pregnancy. Cumin acts as a galactogogue, carminative, purifies the blood, promotes healthy reproductive organ, in both male and female. It can be used to increase the milk flow in nursing mothers, and reputed to act as an aphrodisiac.
Black Cumin Powder
A fine paste of powdered cumin seed mixed in water can be applied to boils, swellings and itchiness of the body. Cumin powder mixed in hot water, along with a pinch of cardamom powder allowed to cool, strain and gargle, to freshen the breath, heals mouth ulcers. Use Roasted Cumin powder mixed with rock salt to massage the gums, will heal inflammations, prevent bleeding and strengthen the gums.
Boil a tea spoonful of Cumin seed powder in a glass of water, allow it to cool and drink twice a day for those suffering indigestion and flatulence; .
In irritable bowel syndrome; mix pomegranate juice with roasted Cumin powder and drink 1-2 times a day until the condition subsides
In Fever: 200 mg of Cumin seed powder is given along with jaggery (raw sugar from the cane) twice a day will abate the fever.
A a Herbal Tonic: Cumin seeds (200 mg) are soaked in milk overnight; then dried and powdered. One teaspoon of the powder is given along with Honey or molasses, as a general fortifying tonic for attaining physical strength.
In Malaria: Cumin seed powder (1g) is mixed with equal amount of Bitter Gourd (Momordica charantia) fruit juice and used as an anti-malarial.
For the Liver Fluke and intestinal worms:  10g of cumin seeds  roasted and ground, mixed with 1 teaspoon Onion (Allium cepa) juice and given on an empty stomach, to children suffering from intestinal worms.
Haemorrhoids:  Soak seed of Cumin overnight and apply the water ectopically for suffers of piles.
Poisonous stings and bites: Kolanji which is the Seed oil of black cumin is mixed with salt and applied externally in to areas of the scorpion sting and poisonous insect bites.
Nursing Mothers: In Central India woman include roasted cumin seeds in their meals to increase their flow of milk.
Digestive problems: Roasted cumin seeds are given with curd or buttermilk to treat most digestive ailments.
In cases of Urinary tract infections: apply locally  a mix of Lemon (Citrus limon) juice, roasted and powdered Coriander (Coriandrum sativum) seed, powder and roasted Cumin seeds and a pinch of black salt (a pungent smelling purplish or pinkish-gray rock salt mined in India) in 100ml water. Apply each  morning on the pubic area and around the groin.
Digestion: chew Cumin (5g) to increase appetite and chew, after lunch and dinner to combat excessive stomach acidity or indigestion.
Kolanji: Black Cumin Oil In animal studies revealed none of the subjects in the control group survived, whilst two-thirds of the mice that had been given black cumin seed oil were still alive 30 days after deliberate efforts to cause cancer in the subject groups. Black cumin is particularly useful against aggressive cancers whose growth depends on angiogenesis. (the abnormal rapid proliferation of blood vessels)
In vitro studies performed in Jordan and the United States have determined that the volatile oil is anti-leukemia. Studies performed in Spain as well as England found that the fixed oil is useful in the treatment of rheumatism and other inflammatory diseases. This property is attributed to thymoquinone which is as high as 25% in the Egyptian seed and missing entirely is some seeds. Thymoquinone is a phytochemical compound found in the plant Nigella sativa. It has antioxidant effects and has been shown to protect against heart, liver and kidney damage in animal studies, as well as having possible anti-cancer effects. It also has analgesic and anti-convulsant effects in animal models. and It is an angiogenesis inhibitor.
Kalonji  is Emmenagogue, Lactogogue and Diuretic. It is an Anti-Helminthic, if taken with vinegar, useful in chronic cold when used when inhaled in common cold.
The oil of Kalonji is effective in Alopecia. Half teaspoonful, boiled in water and taken, is helpful in Asthma and diffuses the toxic effects of Bee and Wasps stings..
Oil of Black cumin, Kolanji is useful in Paralysis, Facial Palsy, Migraine, headaches, Amnesia and Palpitation.
It is also an Expectorant and Antipyretic. It normalizes the secretions of stomach and pancreas, hence effective and significant in the treatment of Diabetes Mellitus.
Cumin expels the Kidney and Urinary Bladder stones, if taken with syrup or honey. Effective in Jaundice, when taken with milk.
If Kolanji seeds are boiled in vinegar and this solution is applied on Gums and Teeth, it removes the Inflammation of the gums and relieves the pain.
Tea made of the fine powder and used as an eye wash is effective in early stages of Cataract. Kolanji oil is used in Skin disorders and effective in Earache.
Modern trials have proven that Kolanji seeds alone or in combination with other drugs are highly effective in Diabetes Mellitus, Vitaligo and Skin ailments.
Culinary Uses: Commonly used in curry and as a general seasoner in most Indian and Continental dishes.  Black cumin seeds are small. They can be used to make tea by simply pouring hot water over the seeds and letting the brew steep for 10 minutes, about a tablespoon makes a nice cup of tea, but it is better to keep the cup covered until ready to drink so as to prevent the aroma from escaping. Some people add a few seeds to their favorite tea or coffee . The seeds can also be added to casseroles or breads, used in canning, or extracted in wine or vinegar. Some people grind the seeds and mix them with honey or sprinkle them on salads. They make a nice addition to salad dressings and even stir fry dishes, especially when combined with lemon, cilantro, and tahini.
Black cumin seeds mixed with honey and garlic are excellent tonics for people with asthma or coughs as well as those who want to enhance their immunity during cold and flu season or when an infection is setting in.
Nigella sativa (Black Cumin) seeds aid peristalsis and elimination, oil of black cumin is antimicrobial and helps to rid the intestines of worms
Nigella Sativa (Black Cumin) for Beauty: Black cumin oil taken in  capsule or plain oil, makes the hair and fingernails stronger and increases the lustre. Some use the oil externally, for treating skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema.  Buy  ready-made base cream, add some Cumin oil to the cream along with an essential oil of choice, and use it as a beauty skin care. Or use a yoghurt maker because the temperature is very even so you can safely ignore the process for hours. The oil will darken. When you feel this has been warmed long enough, melt a little beeswax into the warm oil. Stir it with a glass rod or new chopstick. If you like, you can add an essential oil or combination of oils just before the beeswax set. Choose this for aesthetic or health reasons. Use this mixture on burns or skin infections, you can also use the creams to feel good, moisturise the skin, relieve joint   pain, or to make wrinkles vanish.
Combine vinegar and Kolanji oil mix 1:1 ratio, leave it for a few days or a couple of weeks, then strain the mixture through a conventional strainer, then through a finer muslin, Heat the mix for a few minutes and put  in a jar and refrigerate. A remedy for skin cleanser and acne, taking a tablespoon of this mix before meals will help in flatulence and digestive problems.

Water...the meaning of Life.

Water...the meaning of Life.
Compiled by Nelson Brunton

When we are Born our body is approximately 75-80% water. By the time we reach adulthood we loose approximately 10% of our body’s fluids, and by the time we go into Old age, we have lost about 30% of our body’s ability to retain fluid.
Water is highly involved in the functioning of your body as it carries nutrients to cells, allows for proper digestion, and flushes toxins from our major organs. So by replenishing the loss of water in your body, results in better functioning.
Drinking clean, healthy unadulterated water is extremely important for our health. The cleaner and unadulterated the water is, the better hydrated and healthier we will be. The sad  truth of the matter is that man has interfered with this gift of nature by adding chemicals to it, and lying about it's health benefits after being tampered with. If this is the truth, then why is the Bottled water industry flourishing? Why is everyone walking about with a canteen of water, instead of drinking tap water as we did in the past?
Viktor Schauberger (1885-1958) made an extraordinary contribution to knowledge of the natural world. He comprehended what we now recognise as the quantum or subtle energy effects of water. His understanding was built up from shamanic and experiential observation of Nature in the untamed Alpine wilderness. His motto: "Observe and Copy Nature". At this time he predicted that if we continue as we are, in time we will be paying more for drinking water than we pay to fuel our cars.
As a consiquence of mans continued intervention and insults to Mother Nature, we have polluted the water ways, Ocean and rivers. What a dreaded state to be in, all in the name of progress and professional advice by WHO, U.N, big Phama’s, World Banks, and now new on the horizon, Codex Alimentarius.

Another fact to consider is that as we age we lose bicarbonate in the blood. A noticeable decline begins at the age of 45, and by age 90, we lose 18% of our bicarbonate in our blood. Bicarbonates are the alkaline buffers that neutralize the acidic waste in the body. A reduction of bicarbonate triggers the onset of acid-induced adult degenerative diseases, but by adding bicarbonates to the blood, we can delay the ageing process and prevent age-related diseases. E.g. Arthritis, change in Blood pressure, High Cholesterol, Diabetes, Heart problems, Kidney malfunctions and Stones, Low energy, Mal-absorption, Obesity, Osteoarthritis, and many other related problems.
All foods that produce acid in the body are foods that are not good for the individuals metabolism. In order to maintain a constant Blood Ph, the body will call upon the reserve calcium in the bones and teeth to buffer up the Ph 7.35 to 7.45. The real reason for stone formation in the Kidneys, Gall bladder and the decline in calcium, reserves in bones and teeth, causing brittle bone syndrome and osteoporosis.
The other reason for disease and aging come from all the food we eat, this gives us energy through the process of oxidizing; and then afterwards, they become acidic waste. Since our body naturally does not get rid of all the waste produced, it accumulates in various parts in the body. This accumulation of non-disposed, acidic waste is the real cause of disease, distress and ageing. Some examples of solidified acidic waste are cholesterol, fatty acid, uric acid, kidney stones, urates, sulfates, and phosphates. The best way to neutralize and get these wastes out of our body is to drink water, maintain an alkaline state, and practice regular detox of liver, kidney and bowels.(Please note that you can test your Ph by using Universal PH strips or litmus paper)

Drinks that are full of sugar, or that are fizzy create a lot of acid and fermentation in the body. According to Dr J. H. KELLOGG, M. D. Acid Dyspepsia. — Acidity or sour stomach, is a very common result of the use of sugar in its ordinary form, or in the form of candy and sweetmeats etc. Under the action of certain germs, sugar is converted first into alcohol and carbonic acid gas, and later, the alcohol is decomposed into acetic acid and water or vinegar. It is in this way that vinegar is made from cider, wine, and other sweet liquids. When taken into the stomach, sugar undergoes this same change. The first symptoms of this form of fermentation in the stomach are eructations of gas and distention, this is due to the alcoholic fermentation. Sometimes months or years may elapse without the appearance of other symptoms, but sooner or later the stomach will become sufficiently disabled from frequent distention and the overstretching of its muscles to prevent the prompt discharge of its contents, and the longer retention of the food substances within the stomach will give opportunity for the acetous or acid-forming and fermentation. The symptoms of this are soreness and burning at the pit of the stomach and sometimes vomiting or regurgitation of sour liquids.
According to Dr Leigh Connealy, Sugar in the body feeds cancer cells by causing fermentation. Fermentation is due to a lack of Oxygen, and cancer is an ‘Anaerobic’ process. Fizzy drinks and artificial sugar and sweeteners are believed to be the cause of about 95% of cancers. Exercise is an ‘Aerobic’ process and the increased intake of Oxygen will reduce cancer by 50%.
A simple way to Alkalize can be achieved by adding a teaspoon of Sodium Bicarbonate to a glass of water and drink daily. You can also add the juice of half a fresh Lemon and 1 teaspoon of rock or sea salt which will make the drink more potent. But this is only by choice and personal taste. This mix will assist you in the burning of fat in the body and calm aches and pains in the joints.
Before you go on criticizing the use of salt just think, our body needs salt to make blood. Table salt is the domestic poison, rock and sea salt has the necessary minerals to feed the tissues of the body and maintain optimum health and loosening of your bowels. In Japan they drink a lot of Kangen Water. The word Kangen means Life, and in the west, we know it as ionized and electrolyzed water which has Anti-ageing and antioxidant propertites.

Composition
Seawater is primarily composed of the following salt ions and is listed in order of descending abundance by weight:
Chloride (Cl-) 55.03%, Sodium (Na+) 30.59%, Sulfate (SO42-) 7.68%,Magnesium (Mg2+) 3.68%, Calcium (Ca2+) 1.18%,Potassium (K+) 1.11% , Bicarbonate (HCO3) 0.41%, Bromide (Br-)0.19%, Borate (BO33-) 0.08%, Strontium (Sr2+)0.04%.
Although the salinity of sea water varies worldwide, the relative proportions of its constituent ions remain constant, however, this does not mean that the same is true for salt of marine origin.

Is drinking water good for weight loss?
There are a lot of claims and studies out there about how drinking water will help you lose weight. The simple truth about this statement is that if you are drinking water, you aren’t drinking higher calorie sodas and beverages that contribute to your weight. Substituting high calorie drinks with water will reduce the amount of calories and sugar you take in throughout the day. The more you drink, the more you will urinate, and every time you empty your bladder, you are loosing essential minerals. It is the lack of minerals that weaken and age the body. A lot of the symptoms we suffer is due to the lack of minerals.

The Power of Words Over Water
Can water be affected by our words? Dr. Masaru Emoto, a Japanese scientist, believes so. And he has proof...
Dr. Emoto took water droplets, exposed them to various words, music, and environments, and then froze them for three hours. He then examined the crystal formations under a dark field microscope as well as taking photographs. The results were totally mind-blowing.
Dr. Emoto and his team study water from different sources of the world including water that was effected by music, image, television, thoughts of a single person and a group of people, prayers and words typed or pronounced in different languages etc. Emoto discovered that there was a significant difference between crystals that listened to Beethoven and heavy-metal. Words "angel" and "devil" form structures that are similar and completely opposite at the same time.

Another belief is that water has memory, and it never forgets, since your body is approximately 70-80% water, be careful the memory you carry with you.
